A. I feel like I have a jaded/apathetic view regarding the news, though more specifically the contemporary view of news as 24/7 Cable News. I've always felt that due to its more limited nature, they have to choose what to talk about and what to focus on and that takes away from the myriad of stories that could be told. It's why I feel that news has a bit more relevance in modern day as it can be spread and heard from various places and sources, be spread towards others via social media and even better doesn't limit the amount that can be heard of. In fact, it increases the amount that can be heard.

I get a lot of my news from 2 main sources. The first of these sources, like most people, is from social media. Social medias like Twitter, Reddit, Snapchat, etc. have people active 24/7 all across the globe so whenever a new story breaks out, it's usually received and spread like wildfire via these social medias. While they may not be 100% accurate, they would quickly inform one of what is happening in the world. An example of this is The Queen's death being spread and everyone in the online space knowing about it almost immediately via memes and such shows how fast news spreads on the internet. The second source I get my news from is from various news sites like CNN or Washington Post, although admittedly I don't use these sources too often. The main reason I ever use them is way less to find out about a lot of stories but more so to find more about specific stories I may be interested in. This is usually my backup plan with news media as may get you to know about the news faster it might either not be too specific, be full of misinformation or just not be properly gathered as a full story as it might be an ongoing development. To me there are both pros and cons to doing both methods; relying on social media for news usually backfires when its an ongoing story as well as the notorious amount of misinformation that can be spread via the internet whereas using news site would be slower for new stories and some new sites might not tell the full story or show alternative points towards a story, which is where the idea of the sphere of deviance comes from.
B. I picked the podcast about "Resisting Fake News" To briefly describe Wallace's conclusion at the end of the podcast, it is about the idea of that we don't know a straight answer to the current state of our world and how easy it is for one to fall into cynicism and apathy regarding the world and how that leads to following the status quo and not being able to change anything. With the only way to enable one to fight for change and seek the truth is through one's curiosity; it does not automatically solve the issue but it does give us a way to think about solving our issues. The reason why I chose this podcast was because the idea of Fake News is something that interests me and I really resonate with his writings about the status quo and how that ties into their readings on curiosity being its biggest counterpoint.
